1. Wash and sort peas, place in a large pot
2. Add ham bone, onion, celery, carrots, dried savory and 1 tsp salt.
3. Bring to a boil, reduce heat and simmer intil peas are very tender about 1 hour or more.
4. Remove ham bone, remove meat, chop it up and return meat to soup.
5. Season to taste with salt and pepper.
